The Powerheart AED is the only public-access defibrillator designed to be used on people exhibiting symptoms of cardiac arrest, making earlier intervention possible. The Powerheart AED will safely monitor the victim and advise whether or not a shock is necessary. After the person is successfully defibrillated, the electrodes can remain attached to continuously monitor the person during transport into the ambulance or the hospital. Cardiac Science AEDs are lightweight, portable, and extremely easy to use. This unit, as well as the Survivalink, are the only units to have a simple one-button operation. Fewer buttons mean less confusion when cardiac emergencies strike.

The Powerheart uses RescueReady technology, which means that the unit tests not only the battery and the system components, but also the pre-connected electrodes. No other manufacturer makes a unit that checks the electrodes. The ready-to-go unit displays a green light, while a unit that failed the internal tests would have a red light and a loud beeping noise.

The Powerheart is a great public-access defibrillator. The self-checks on the battery, system components, and the electrodes eliminate constant maintenance of the machine. The non-polar electrodes make electrode placement easy for those who are inexperienced with defibrillation. The one-button manufacturing makes following the defibrillation steps easy, and the audio command system delivers concise defibrillation directions. These commands also appear on the advisory screen so the operator does not have difficulty understanding commands in what is most likely an intense situation.

Flexibility is also important in an AED. That is why the Powerheart allows a medical director to modify the operational parameters in its system with Proprietary MDLink® data management software. The Powerheart does not compromise speed and utility at the expense of monitoring: Windows®-compatible Data Storm™ software archives multiple rescues and allows entry of additional EMS-related data.
